we are and what we do
'Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. We report directly to Parliament and we are independent and impartial. We inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
Every week, we carry out hundreds of inspections and regulatory visits throughout England, and publish the results on our website. ' Ofsted Website
Our latest inspection was carried out in September 2018 - we achieved a 'Good' grade .
The inspector highlighted the following points:
The management team provides effective leadership and is committed to continuous improvement. Managers take account of the views of staff, parents and other professionals to target areas for further development.
The key-person system is firmly embedded. Staff develop strong emotional bonds with children from the start. Children are happy, settled and secure. They seek and enjoy staff interactions throughout the day. This helps children to develop confidence and self-esteem.
Parents are very complimentary about the pre-school and say how much their children develop and enjoy attending.
Teaching is good. Staff make regular and accurate assessments of children's achievements. Children make good progress and develop the key skills needed to help prepare them for their move on to school
We were not yet Outstanding because:
Staff do not seek enough information from parents when children initially start at the setting about children's prior learning and current capabilities, to help support their initial assessment.
There is room to continue to build on staff's skills and interests that raise their practice to an outstanding level.
Both of these areas have been addressed.
